WE WILL SURVIVE!

Just one more day to go and we have break! This is so exciting, the break we have been asking for for a month now. We just need to get through tomorrow and find out if we have projects or homework to do and we can go home and just sleep all day. Hopefully our teachers do not decide to give us material to study or remember because at this moment our minds are everywhere besides school. We are the beach and we have not even got in the car yet.

As we leave tomorrow, we are going to be asked to be safe and careful when we are out having fun. We will also be asked not to forget everything we have been taught in the last few weeks. Some of us will not and some us will. Senioritis is spreading quickly and WILL get to every senior student on ever campus across america. This infection of the brain causes senior students to forget about school and focus on living at home all day every day for summer!

We can fight through this senioritis outbreak and survive the last two months of school. All we need is to focus on the finish line (graduation) and we will make it. I'm personally excited to go to college and learn about things I want to learn about not things I have to learn about. This should be an interesting last few months of school. We will see who can survive and who can not.

Give us a break!

Aside from all the tasks we get for being seniors in high school like taking SAT's, ordering our cap and gown, paying for all our senior trips, and loads of work a day we get to pass all of our classes. A day coming to an end feels pretty great. It feels like an eternity before school gets out everyday . And the days are getting longer and longer. Hearing about spring break just makes matters worse!

Spring break is the only break of the year where we get the freedom to rebel for a couple of days. The best part is get to go to the beach with friends and just have a good time. Away from all the final bits of stress we have in our last few weeks of school.

It seems like our teachers are trying to hold us back from leaving and having fun. They want us to study this, study that. It is to much to ask when we only a break this long every few months. Yes, we understand we need to know things for finals but, can we just take our break without any strings attached?

All we ask for is a little time to ourselves then, when come back, all that is needed to be crammed in our brains can be taught to us.

This question is directed to any teacher. Do you remember what it was like to be a teenager? Always wanting to skip out on homework to go hang out with friends or just go outside for some fresh air? What were the thoughts that entered your head when your teacher gave you loads of homework to do? Didn't you just want to ignored it so bad and just lay down in bed and relax? I know our teachers remember those good old days.

Nobody is asking for no homework or no test, all we ask for is a bit of understanding. We understand you have a job to do and teach but, CAN WE JUST GO ON BREAK ALREADY!

These posts are not meant to offend anybody in anyway. These are just my personal opinions on school and my last year of it.

It feels like we're being set up for failure.

Often times during the course of the year we are given test. Our teachers say it is to see what we've learned and what we haven't learned yet, they still grade us on it. Every teacher wants to hear that their teaching method is good and their students are learning but that's not always the case.

Yesterday morning I was given a surprise chemistry test. Those are never good because I always have to worry about passing this class. As a senior it was my mistake of taking the class to late. I can't just kickback and do nothing cause if i do i can get my college acceptance revoked. That's just my case but, I speak for the my whole class when I say, we have learned a third of what was on that 90 question test. Who gives a test with material nobody knows? Our chemistry teachers sadly.

The sad part of this is that, we really are being set up for failure, especially us seniors in the class because we do not have another to take this class. It might sound a bit dramatic but it is the truth. We sit here and ask question cause we need answers and all we get is, "The answer is in the book, I'm not telling you."  Okay? Thanks. How do we know we are correct?

Senior life is stressful, we have to deal all this nonsense all day. Or science department does not think it is nonsense, they think they are doing a fine job. To me it proves to be nonsense when you have a 40% failure rate in each class.

What are some teachers thinking?

I speak for my own class schedule and teachers when I say this. Some teachers basically give you a ton of  homework with no explanation. They just leave us to fend for ourselves. How do they expect us to get good grades and pass with flying colors on tests and quizzes if we do not know what we're being assessed on ?

Our attention span as seniors is very low. How do they expect us to go threw a whole textbook and find answers, formulas, and theories? It's just not the right approach. It is setting us up for failure.

In my opinion, if you're a teacher you should how to "teach" students what they're supposed to know. If a teacher doesn't explain a concept to his/her students, they don't learn the material. Knowing this some teachers expect so much of us.

Yes, I understand some us are 17 and older but, we're still in high school. We haven't been out in the world to learn things for ourselves. We're still psychologically developing, we need that extra explanation after the notes. As seniors we're older than everybody but that doesn't mean we're geniuses.

All we ask for is a bit of understanding from our teachers. Understand we're at an exciting and stressful point in our lives and we need guidance from our elders and peers to succeed. With guidance ( by "Guidance" I mean, a better quality of explanation) we'll have a better understanding of our work and material we need to learn. Once again this doesn't apply to all teachers and is not meant to offend anybody. It's just an opinion on how some classes are being organized and taught.

Graduation time is near and our hopes are high, all this is very exciting but, sometimes we just feel like our teachers are out to get us with all the work they assign to us. A never ending pile of assignments that take days to finish and once we finish we just get another pile thrown at us. Doesn't it feel like they just never want us to graduate? No offense to any teachers. I just want to know that i'm graduating and be given a break.
Sometimes us as students get angry and moody because we don't have much time to ourselves because of all this work. We just want our teachers to understand we've been in school for almost 13 years now and all we want is a little break from all the mental challenges that come with studying and finishing homework.

I speak for myself when I say I'm going to college because I've already been accepted and know for a fact where I am going. With that said don't you think I deserve just a little phsycological break from all this? I think it would do me some good and help when I do start my first days of college to have break cause then, my brain would be fresh.

All it feels like at this moment is like being attacked. Which I know is not true because some teachers want to see there students succeed and make it but, we're still teenagers. We need some time to have to our own, to express our various personalities.
